Dams Of Calyx, Headman To Kingman

The Juddmonte stallions Bated Breath, Oasis Dream, Frankel, Kingman and Expert Eye | Bronwen Healy

The dams of G2 Coventry S. and Pavilion S. winner Calyx (GB), dual Group 2 winner Headman (GB) and G3 Hampton Court S. winner Sangarius (GB) are among the Juddmonte mares set to visit Kingman (GB) in his sixth year at stud this year.

Also on the books of the 2014 Cartier Horse of The Year are Juddmonte's Group 1 winners Capla Temptress (Ire) (Lope De Vega {Ire}) and Romantica (GB) (Galileo {Ire}); Group 2 winner Starformer (Dynaformer); Amser (GB) (Frankel {GB})-a half-sister to Group 1 winners Timepiece (GB) and Passage of Time (GB); Group 1 producer Kilo Alpha (GB) (King's Best) and Group 3 winners Dandhu (GB) (Dandy Man {Ire}) and Fount (GB) (Frankel {GB}).

Kind (Ire) (Danehill), the dam of Frankel (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) and Noble Mission (GB) (Galileo {Ire}), will also visit Kingman (GB) in 2020. The 19-year-old Kind, also the dam of stakes winners Bullet Train (GB) (Sadler's Wells) and Joyeuse (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}), has produced just one live foal in the last six seasons, the 2-year-old Galileo (Ire) filly Chiasma (Ire) who is in training with John Gosden.

Frankel's impressive strike rate continues to hold up, and the unbeaten world champion notched five new Group 1 winners in 2019. The dams of many of his top performers will return to him in 2020, including Nimble Thimble (Mizzen Mast), the dam of last year's champion 2-year-old filly Quadrilateral (GB) (Frankel {GB}). Other return visitors include Group 1 winners and dams of Frankel stakes winners African Rose (GB) (Observatory) and Ventura (GB) (Chester House); Group 1 winners Proviso (GB) (Dansili {GB}), Samba Inc (Arg) (Include) and Special Duty (GB) (Hennessy); Group 2 winner Soffia (GB) (Kyllachy {GB}); Zatsfine (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}), the dams of Frankel group winners Delaware (GB) and Obligate (GB); and Flare of Firelight (Birdstone), the dam of last year's G2 Gimcrack S. and G2 Champagne S. winner Threat (GB) (Footstepsinthesand {GB}).

The first foals by Group 2-winning 2-year-old and GI Breeders' Cup Mile-winning 3-year-old Expert Eye (GB) are hitting the ground with positive reviews from breeders. Juddmonte will once again support the son of Acclamation (GB) with quality mares in 2020 including Grade I winner and Group 3 producer Heat Haze (GB) (Green Desert); Atone (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}), a winning full-sister to six-time Group 1 winner Midday (GB); Group 2 winner and Group 3 producer Modern Look (GB) (Zamindar); Across The Floor (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}), a half-sister to Flintshire (GB); Palmette (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}), a full-sister to Showcasing (GB) and listed winners Rostova (Arch), Swiss Range (GB) (Zamindar), Scottish Jig (Speightstown) and Variable (GB) (Sea The Stars {Ire}).

A steady stream of success has allowed Bated Breath (GB) to uphold his popularity year on year, and in 2020 the son of Dansili (GB) stands for a career-high £12,500. His breeder will continue to support him with mares including mares, including the dams of his stakes winners Gavota (GB) and Viadera (GB). Also on his book will be Group 3 winner Vote Often (GB) (Beat Hollow {GB}); Tendu (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}), a full-sister to Showcasing; Scallop (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}), a winning daughter of Group 1 winner Quiff (GB) (Sadler's Wells); and Strelka (GB) (Kingman {GB}), a winning half-sister to G1 Investec Derby and G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Workforce (GB) (King's Best).

The influence of Oasis Dream is readily apparent among the Juddmonte broodmare band, and at the age of 20 Banstead's elder statesman continues to churn out a steady stream of black-type horses. Juddmonte continues its patronage of Oasis Dream with the likes of Occurrence (GB) (Frankel {GB}), a half-sister to Group 1 winner Promising Lead (GB) (Danehill), and Bated Breath's seven-furlong group performer Gavota.
